If you like the world of kit-built electric guitars,then this book is very Building Electric Guitars book but remember this is not a step-by-step construction guide on electric guitar building from ing with a bolt-on Strat-style kit,continuing on to a Tele-style guitar, a set-neck LP Junior-style and finally a color shifting metalflake information on several finishes/5(33).

He also goes into details, with a separate section on each, for specifically building the bodies for a solid body, semi-hollow body and hollow body type electric guitar. While he does show various stages of construction on numerous guitars, he does not show construction of a particular guitar start to finish.4/4(60).

The book focuses on 4 different guitars, but each one starts life as a kit and there is no actual information on building a guitar from scratch, which is what I was really looking for.

The main focus of the book is preparing the guitar ready for finishing as well as the actual finishing process/5(64). This is a great Solid Body Guitar building book. Martin Oakham has hit the mark and is a great text for building the electric guitar. From wood selection to completion, though could have more on finishing, this book is first class.

To compliment this book I would get Tom Hirst's Electric Guitar Construction book/5(30). Building Electric Guitars Book: Featuring nearly photos and illustrations, luthier Martin Koch details the complete building process.

You'll find valuable information on wood selection, pickup winding and active electronics, too. pages, softcover/5.
